Geocache Description:

This cache is set in Longtimber and Pithill woods along the banks of the river Erme on the outskirts of Ivybridge. There is a path along the banks of the river to the cache site so terrain is easy although can get a little muddy. car parking is at Arjo Wiggins Papermill in Ivybridge Location N 50 23.600' AND W 003 55.257'. It is approximately 0.75 miles to the cache.

The cache is set in Longtimber and Pithill Woods at Ivybridge in the South Hams region of Devon. The path along the Erme was used by Farmers to take sheep to and from the moor. Along the river animal pounds were built to house the sheep. One of these disused pounds is marked as a swimming pool on local maps. In the second world war American Troops, based in Ivybridge, passed the time by converting this animal pound into a swimming pool complete with its own beach made from imported sand!

On the opposite bank of the river, is a privately owned estate, which has many wellingtonias or Californian Redwood trees that were planted there in the 1800's.

The cache was released with the following items: foreign coin, Bart bike spokey dokey, small elephant, rat, horse figure from clifford the big red dog, matchbox car and a whale whistle.
