The hike to Wapama Falls is about 2 miles long and mostly level. I took a sack lunch and ate at the falls.
I have heard that during some parts of the year, the water from the falls almost buries the footpath bridges that cross in front of the falls. Be safe, don’t do anything dangerous.
If you are a backpacker and are interested in a beautiful, yet tough, hike, I’ve heard that the hike from Tuolumne Meadows to Hetch Hetchy is spectacular. That portion of the Park is called the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne.
The coordinates for the second (final) stage:
N37 52.RS2
W119 52.XY2
At the first stage you will find a series of footpath bridges that cross in front of the falls. Go to the easternmost bridge. The easternmost bridge consists of ‘board groups’ placed end-to-end. Each ‘board group’ consists of individual boards placed next to each other. You will need to determine the following information to determine the coordinates to the second stage.
A = The number of individual boards in a ‘board group’ not counting the kickboards on each side.
B = The number of ‘board groups’ in the easternmost footbridge.
C = The number of steel channels that were used to make the handrail on the ‘lake-side’ of the bridge. Do not count the vertical and diagonal support cross members below the handrail. Count only the channels at hand level.
R = C - A
S = (2*B)-C
X = (6*A)-(5*C)
Y = 2*X
The final stage is the size of a film canister.
