Welcome to one of the many lighthouses along the St. John River, Swift Point Lighthouse at Green head, Saint John.
Forty-six foot tall Swift Point Lighthouse was built in 1869 and is still in operation.
"This lighthouse acts as a leading light marking the western entrance to the St. John River Gorge; ships bound downstream steer directly towards it to find the proper channel. Located on the west side of the river at the end of a dirt road off Green Head Road. Site open, tower closed. Owner/manager: Canadian Coast Guard. Square pyramidal frame tower, painted white with red trim, lantern painted red".

The trail to this lighthouse is fairly easy. Park at the old rusted metal fence on Green Head Road, on your right just after passing Dwyer Road. The fence is located directly across the road from 699 Green Head Road. Proceed along the trail. Continue across the power line. Soon you will come across a fork in the road, keep to your right along the trail to the lighthouse.
Cache is hidden close to the lighthouse, in a small plastic peanut butter jar with screw top lid. There are the usual trinkets, along with logbook and pencil. As well there is a US $1.00 bill that can be tracked at www.wheresgeorge.com, and a Lighthouse TB TB73B6, who loves to visit lighthouses!
Enjoy your hunt, and enjoy the lighthouse. Unfortunately, by the looks of the area, it is enjoyed by many. It seems to be a favourite party spot.
