Geocache Description:

Taylor County Ice Age Trail. Well marked National Forest Trail that traverses much of Northern Wisconsin. Trail emphasizes glacial effects on terrain. Eskers and Morraines.

11-22-2012 Dried out the container and moved the cache about 50 feet to the West to keep it out of the spring flood waters of the creek. It needs a pencil and notebook as the old notebook was wet and pencil missing.
The site is the location of a turn of the century lumber camp called "Lechner's". When you get to the creek with a curved boardwalk bridge, you are there. Some signs of the camp still exist, mostly small excavations from old building foundations, and some broken remains of camp equipment. Shortest hike is from the Forest road that's to the West but the hike from Lake 19 Road is nice also. Small signs on the Forest roads indicate the Ice Age Trail. Bushwacking in from the East will lead you into a large, wet swamp. Generally best to follow the Ice Age trail in from the East. When your GPS tells you the Cache is straight West from your location on the trail it would be ok to bushwack from their as you now have the swamp to your East.
