Geocache Description:

A little bit of Kalamazoo County history.

Bazel Harrison was Kalamazoo County's first white settler. He was guided to Prairie Ronde by Pottowattomie Chief Sagamaw and some of his people about 1827.To claim your find please email me with the answer to the following: Name and date of death on the headstone just north of Bazel and his wife Martha's headstones.Enjoy this piece of Michigan history.

It is said that this Cemetery is somewhat haunted. A local legend also has it that one of the tall spire type headstones glows on some dark nights. If this sort of thing creeps you out, you should visit during daylight hours.

You should also check out the monument located at N42º 08.589 W085º 40.392 and the marker at 10th street and U Avenue for a bit more info on the history of Mr. Harrison.
