Geocache Description:

This cache, Gut Wolf II, the Sign, is a small cache,
and an extension of my first Gut Wolf cache!

To be able to find it, you have to walk all the way out to the far end of the Gattulven peninsula. This will give you a nice view of the Vinga light house from an angle, from which you probably never have seen it before!

Detta är en liten cache på en vacker och historiskt intressant plats på Vinga.
Här finns "tecken" från historien.

This small cache is a transparent plastic tube (40 x 120 mm)
and had the following content from start:

  • Cache log
  • Pencil
  • A picture of my Smashing GeoCaching Dogs (the SGCD) (NB, not a trading object! If you want a picture of the SGCD send me an e-mail and I will send you a picture!)
  • One Gavia caching business card
  • One stainless hose clip (slangklämma)
  • One sheet hook (skothake)
I placed the cache here when we traditionally finished off the sailing season on Vinga, with a nice seafood dinner and our traditional lobster supper.

The reason why the cache is here, is that I want to show some "Signs" from the history of Göteborg, in the surroundings of my home town.

The first sign is a pillbox (bunker) built here during the second world war, which was a vital part of the defence of the harbour entrance to Göteborg!

The second sign is a giant concrete “table” (tavla). This sign is remains from the historical period when Göteborg was one of the most important shipyard towns in the world! Götaverken, Lindholmen and Eriksberg are shipyard names still well-known and respected all over the world!

There are three more similar signs, as this "table sign", in the archipelago of Göteborg (see picture below). They are “connected” in pairs, where one pair of signs in line with each other, marks a leading line out at sea. Between those two lines is a specified distance, which was used during speed checks of the new built ships, before delivery.

I wish you a pleasant walk on Gattulven!
