Situated at St. Johns, Tynwald or Parliament Field is an ancient assembly ground where people still meet to hear the proclamation of new laws, read aloud in both in English and Manx. This Parliament can be traced back to the ninth century. The meeting occurs annually on the Old Midsummer Day of the 5th July.
