Zeno's Paradox Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Nomex: Hi Chris & Janet
As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm temporarily archiving this to keep it from continually showing up in search lists. Just contact us when you have the cache repaired, [RED]and assuming it still meets the guidelines[/RED], we'll be happy to unarchive it.

You may email me at via the link to my profile on the log. [red]Please be sure to include the cache name and GCxxxx number, or better yet, the URL of the cache page.[/red]

Thanks for your cooperation!

Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted coordinates, but it's within two miles. Or was that one mile? The actual location can be approached on level ground.

There are times when the cache location is quite crowded.

In order to find this cache, you will first have to solve the puzzle below. Then you'll have to travel half the distance from where you are to the cache location, then half the remaining distance, then half that distance again, and so on. Since this is an infinite series, the cache should stay unfound for a long time.

Place the digits from 0 to 8 in the circles so that the distances between successive numbers are decreasing. The straight-line distance for each successive pair should be strictly decreasing.

The puzzle

The sample shows what I mean. Notice that as you visit increasing numbers you travel a shorter distance to place each successive one.

The solved example

Once you have correctly placed the digits and calculated the coordinates, you will be able to figure out the cache location.

p = B - I
q = H - I
r = G - C + 1
s = C - A
t = H - F
u = F * E
v = D / 2
w = G - A

The cache is hidden at 37 2p.qrs 122 t.uvw. But will you ever be able to get there?

In keeping with the theme, the cache container is small, but not to the point of invisibility. Bring your own pen.

We have moved the cache since it was plundered more than once at the previous location. The offsets are in the formulas above. It is within 100 feet of the original placement. And not in the ivy. We've moved the cache again since the recent location was dismantled, and adjusted the equations again. It's still within 100 feet, and still not in the ivy.
