Geocache Description:

This multi-stage cache will introduce you to a great hidden trail system right next to Seward neighborhoods. Stop and enjoy the wonderful woods, the informative signs, and interesting historical artifacts.
NEW CHALLENGE FOR 2011 !!
We have again re-located the final cache, with a new container, after the cache was ruined in 2010. There is an additional stage, with a mystery to solve, so come walk the entire park, see the lakes, and see if you can complete this fun challenge!

Park your rig, find the first hidden clue, and follow the trail of co-ordinates. The entire trip now has five stops, and is approximately one mile in length. There may be a good number of visitors on some days, so discretion is advised. The route should be fine in nearly all weather conditions, but Seward is well known for rain on ice during some wet winter months, so be wary on steep spots. Look for old gold mining equipment off the trail, watch for squirrels, porcupines, or even moose in this quiet zone which has been saved from development. Flowers, berries, and mushrooms are abundant in season.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The existing trails will take you to all locations. The tree cover may hamper reception, so be patient.

NEW: At stage four, do this easy math to adjust the coordinates you used to get there in order to find the location of the fifth and final hide:
Find a commemorative plaque which has a date; you will need that four-digit number. First, SUBTRACT the number which is the first two digits of the date you found on the plaque from the last three digits of the North co-ords of stage four, then also SUBTRACT 35 from the remainder. Next, from the last three digits of the West co-ords, SUBTRACT the number of the last two digits of the date from the plaque, then ADD 26 to that sum. The new coords will lead you to the final hide.

The First Finder on this new challenge can grab some fun prizes, including a 2010 GeocacheAlaska pin and a howling wolf pathtag.

The final cache is an ammo box loaded with lots of loot, and will be accessible all year. Make sure it is well tucked in again.
