Geocache Description:

Summer and Fall hike. The summit elevation is 6854 feet. You need to take crampons and ice axe. 10 essentials etc. Buddy system is a very good plan!

The opportunity finally came for me to hike to the Three Fingers lookout. Couldn’t resist taking a cache container along with plans to place it at Goat Flats. Stopped there for a while to look around and rest, forgetting about the cache I had. After arriving at the summit I knew it was deserving of a cache. This hike has most everything I like when hiking. Forest, meadows, creeks, lake, rocks, snow, high elevation, wild life, super views and challenges. The cache container is a round white container about 6 inches tall with a green ”Official Geocache” label on the side. You will want to start looking before you reach the summit. It is hidden in a large triangular shaped hole in the rocks large enough to sit in. There were some ferns growing inside. Hopefully they survive as there isn’t much vegetation around there. Just rocks and more rocks of all sizes. I had abandoned my hiking stick just below this spot because I really needed both hands free for climbing. Directions:About 7 miles from Granite Falls on the Mountain Loop Hwy turn north on Green Mt. Road and you will then see the Forest Service Road #41. (This road is directly across from the big brick sign for the Old Robe Trail.) It is almost 18 miles to the Trail Head #641. (I would say that drive in itself is deserving of a cache.)
