GeoPoet Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

VinceHayter: When I first moved to MD 20 years ago (good grief, has it really been that long?), Last Lap Gang’s (Russ and Erin’s) caches were among the first I found and more than one gave me the slip…repetitively. Ironically, I look back on those hard won DNFs because they embodied the nature of the game at its best in its early days - get out into nature, and have an adventure. I will always be thankful to LLG for the experiences they provided through their hides. To that end, “LONG LIVE TIMREK!” (IYKYK…)

However, nothing lasts forever. The game moved on, I moved on; and while this is a beautiful area, it’s ready for something new which will better fit what the game - which is good and, frankly, overdue. It’s been made fairly clear to me that no one enjoys the challenge of this hide any longer, and I genuinely take no pleasure in keeping something around that no one is enjoying. This should have happened earlier, but for weal or woe, it’s being put to rest now.

To keep with the spirit of the cache, I close with these words of Alfred Lord Tennyson,
“Tears, idle tears, I know not what they mean,
Tears from the depth of some divine despair
Rise in the heart, and gather to the eyes,
In looking on the happy autumn-fields,
And thinking of the days that are no more.”

Also Watch your step. There is mainly bushwhacking technique to this cache but if you are lucky you will catch a deer trail like we did on the hide.

There are also some small trade items. This is mostly foreign coins as Poets need currency as they travel to new and strange lands to sell their Prose! Try to find "small" and witty trades to put in the cache a GeoPoet may need and by all means bring that poem of yours! There is a pencil in the cache but no pen if you would like to bring your own. Come on try one:

Roses are Red
Cache Tops are Blue
I got the first find
To Bad it wasn't you

So get those creative juices flowing and sit nearby when you find this cache and add your poem along with your handle as the scroll and the log are one in the same. Please add it on-line here too. We can't wait to read your wit.
