Geocache Description:

This trail brings you through the area where Jack Londons Dawson City in the film "the Call of The Wild" (når villdyret våkner) was located. But it is much much more!

The area has at least two faces. It cold feel like the coldest place on earth in january with wind from north and snow. It could also be one of the most pleasant places to be. The light makes much of the difference. It was the light that caught Christian Skredsviks attention around 1880. After a longer visit on the farm Fleskum he invited some of his friends to work together with him. It was Kitty Kielland, Harriet Backer, Christian Skredsvig, Gerhard Munthe, Eilif Peterssen og Erik Werenskiold. After they left he continued his work at Fleskum until some year. You have to find this out from the information given at N 59 54.914 E 010 32.161 Remember the last digit as letter C One of Christian Skredvigs well-known pictures is "Gutten med Seljefløyten". It is paintet at N 59 55.150 E 010 32.372 When was it finished? Find out from the information given on this location.Remember the last digit as A, but don't forget to take a good look at the beutiful lake. We are leaving this art for a while. Go back on the road and follow it to N 59 55.330 E 010 32.166 Here you will find a sign. You may ignore that, but behind it you will find many well preserved rock carvings (helleristninger) made when Dælivann just was a creek in the ocean. Look closely! Further away you will find a big hey barn. When it was build, around 1860, it was normal to place them in the middle of the field. It is at least two reasons for that. One is to avoid that the farm catches fire if the barn is burning. The other is to avoid transportation of the wet grass. It was build by Erik Østby. When was he born? Again study the information given at N 59 55.472 E 010 32.294 Remember the last but one digit (nest siste) as letter D This barn became a natural part of Dawson City during the recordings. Follow the road further on. While walking, look halfway to the left. There you should see something you soon will get much closer. It looks something like where Reodor Felgen lives in the movie. Countinue towards N 59 55.605 E 010 32.918 Here you will find a nice house. Harrit Backer has lived here, but long before that Lars Helgesen did. How many children lived here together with him? Divide it by 4, and you have a digit for letter F. How many were they all together? Divide that by 5 and you get a digit for both letter B and E. Thats all you need to know to find the cache! So where is it?? It is in fact on a very safe location: It is in the remains of an old local castle where also superthief Ole Høyland still keeps his secrets. Nobody has found them yet, but I hope indeed you will find our treasure! Maybe you also find Høylands treasure! Please move further on, up the hill and then left at the main road. Follow the foot path, keep an eye on the GPS and find a sign at N 59 56.050 E 010 32.086 Follow the blue marks until you see a blue arrow pointing right at N 59 55.954 E 010 31.923 then go LEFT. You are now close the cache at N 59 55.ABC E 010 32.DEF Expect total time for the whole trip to be around two hours (back and forth). Please don't rush it. This is a beutiful area. It is possible to bike most of the way. It is also possible to access both ends of the run with public transportation. The cache may be combined with thirtytwo-and-a-half meter, and de dødes tjern. The wall and The old Bridge is also within walking distance. Note: All the clues for the cache are given on signs. The coords for these are not very accurate, but should be more that good enough to find them. The cords for the cache IS accurate. HAVE A NICE TRIP!
