On summer weekends there is quite a bit of activity in the area and
you are likely to be seen. However, without equipment no one is
going to be able to follow you to the cache. For more privacy try
weekdays.
Here is what you need
- Swimming gear
- Shoes or at least sandals (lots of brush and blackberry vines on
the island)
- Waterproof GPS unit
- Climbing rope (30 meters minimum)
- Climbing harness
- Rappelling device (figure 8 or ATC)
- Prusik loop (to be able to take your hands off the rope in mid
air)
- Optional: waterproof, floatable bag for climbing gear, shoes
etc.
This is the suggested route
1) Park your car at N 50° 06.988’; E 08° 52.070’.
2) Via trails walk to the starting point for swimming at N 50°
06.941’; E 08° 52.576’ (this point is only a suggestion, which will
minimize swimming distance).
3) Access the island on its south western corner at N 50° 06.957’;
E 08° 52.535’ (again only a suggestion. There are at least three
possible access points).
4) On the island follow the coordinates N 50° 06.963’; E 08°
52.581’ to a marked tree.
5) Rappelling from that tree will let you access the cache located
at N 50° 06.956’; E 08° 52.575’
The cache is in a 14 cm long tube for vitamin tablets. You can
trade small (!) items that should be related to outdoor
activities.
On June 04, 2005 the cache contained the following

-small can opener
-pocket knife
-key ring
