Der Plankenstein ist eigentlich ein reiner Kletterberg. Der
Normalanstieg (Schwierigkeitsgrad II, ca. 30 Minuten vom Sattel)
über eine Rinne im Westen ist für Geübte aber auch ohne
Kletterausrüstung machbar. Den Normalanstieg erreicht man vom
Plankensteinsattel zwischen Risserkogel und Plankenstein. Der
Anstieg ist nicht markiert, aber durch den stark abgegriffenen Fels
immer gut sichtbar (und bei Nässe daher sehr
gefährlich!).
Der GC ist kurz vor dem Gipfel (1765 Meter) direkt am Weg - man
muß nicht auch noch waghalsig am Gipfel rumklettern, um den GC zu
finden. Nehmt im Zweifelsfall lieber das Foto zu Hilfe.

The summit of the Plankenstein can only be reached via climbing.
The easiest route (difficulty II, about 30 minutes from the ridge)
is along a depression on the west side and can be done without rope
if you feel save in that terrain. This route can be reached from
the Plankensteinsattel (ridge) between Risserkogel and
Plankenstein. The route is not marked but can be seen quite easily
because the rock is very slick (thus do not climb here if it is
wet!).
The GC is only a few meters below the summit (1765 meters)
directly at the trail - you don't have to take additional risks at
the summit to get to the GC. If you cannot locate it use the
spoiler picture.
