Ögonakällan / Eye-well

Welcome to the Nature Memory "Ögonakällan" and "Finnakällan"

History
They so called “Finnakällorna” [wells of Finnish people] were originally four
but the one closest to the road have dried out.
From the three wells a small brook runs up and it used to be the power for a sawmill “Sumpasågen”.
According to information there has been an settlement of Finnish people,
the memory lives in the names of the wells and the brook.
The wells runs up north and that is assumed to be powerful.
The famous well is “Ögonakällan” [Eye-well] its water assumed to be particular good for washing your eyes with.
“Ögonakällan” used to be a hole in the ground, shaped like an eye, therefore its name.

The wells today
The three remaining wells appears from the west edge of a ridge area that spread to north-south parallel with the road Hallsberg – Hardemo.
“Ögonakällan” that used to be a round hole have change its looks. An spruce have fallen and soil have been washed away,
so the well runs up directly from the slope.
“Ögonakällan” and “Finnakällan” [well of Finnish people] that are just beside “Ögonakällan” creates a brook app. 1m wide with rich waterflow.
This brook runs up and together with “Finnabäcken” [brook of Finnish people] In the angle between the two brooks a third well,
“Järnkällan” [iron-well] appears, it has an high iron content.
