This island is open to the public and deserves a geocache to induce you to visit it! It takes some planning to get there and we recognize that the number of geocaching visitors will be small. A number of companies do boat tours that take you there. It is on the Atlantic side of Antigua and has a hill from which there are beautiful views over Antigua, the nearby islets and reefs. There are two blowholes which are active on a stormy day. The terrain score is 5 because you need a boat to get there. Once there, the score drops to 4.
The snorkelling around the island is great.
Great Bird Island is the only remaining home of the Antiguan Racer (Alsophis antiguae), a non-poisonous snake. Click for further information.
The cache is a tupperware box hidden in an overhang under a rock, with a shrub in front.
