Geocache Description:

This cache is a virtual cache. You will need to hike to the cache and answer the question below to receive full credit for the find.

Park at the small parking area at N42 15.474 W086 19.752 and the trail begins as a two track to the north.

This cache is located on the former property of the Ross family, now held by the Nature Conservancy as a nature preserve. This property is located along some of the most beautiful inland shores along Lake Michigan in a protected dunes area.

The Ross family founded the Clark Equipment Company and this was their personal estate (somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 acres). The path you will be walking is the old driveway, aprox 1.5 miles in length (3.0 miles round trip). At the end of the path are the ruins of the former house, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. After years of vandalism following the death of the owners all that now remains is the chimney/hearth and the slab foundation.

Your question is this: The chimney/hearth still remains from the old house, on the south side of the chimney there are pockets where the old roof rafters were set into the masonry. How many pockets are there? E-mail me with your answer to receive credit for the find.

Bring along heavy duty bug dope. The hike is gently rolling, a nice mostly non-brushy trail. In the winter months x-country skis or snowshoes will be in order. The remnants of the house are on a small lake, I tried fishing it but didn't catch anything, let me know if you have any luck and what you used.

Good luck and enjoy the hike!
