Geocache Description:

Red Cloud Loop, near Iron Springs campground. 8500 feet elevation. Dirt road, but passable by car when roads are dry.

Bullionville (Dyer Mountain quad) is an old mining ghost town that had a short life, based primarily on the nearby Dyer Mines. All that remains now are a few rocks and pieces of wood. It appears Bullionville was the center for two mining districts (or perhaps one district that sometimes went by two different names) -- Bullion and Carbonate -- starting in 1880. Nearby Big Brush Creek Cave (then sometimes called Vortex Cave) was also the site of miner meetings. The Dyer Mines played out of copper by about 1900, but Bullionville was later revived for a short time as a CCC camp in 1933, after which it became a full-fledged ghost town.

Cache is a green ammo can.

According to the USGS topo map, Bullionville site is about 425 feet NW of the cache.

When I checked on the cache in 2009, someone had placed a "Private Property" sign on a nearby pine tree. There is no private property for at least a mile in any direction from this cache, including the access trail -- it's all US Forest Service land -- so no need to worry about "trespassing" on any private property.

Be careful to stay on roads -- the ground in the area is usually wet and fragile. Thanks for helping to keep this cache in good shape!
