Hume detour Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Ngaambul: As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it's been a number of months since the last owner note. I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it. Should you replace the cache after 30 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.

Geocache Description:

Fairly easy cache marking the home of one of Australia's most famous explorers.

Hamilton Hume opened up the Yass plains for settlement in 1821. After its construction in 1835, Cooma Cottage, not far from Yass, became Hume's home until his death there 1873. Today, Cooma Cottage houses a museum featuring the life of Hume, as well as a gallery of local art.

The cache is in a smallish tupperware container not far from the Cooma Cottage entrance off Yass Valley Road. Access is easy from the road, but the cache is surrounded by long grass.

Cache container may be a little sticky. A pair of gardening gloves or similar wouldn't be a bad idea. :-)
