Geocache Description:

This site is located along Whiteoak Canyon Trail at an elevation of approximately 2600 feet. Round trip distance from the parking area is 4.6 miles with an elevation change of 1000 feet. For access to the trail, park at mile marker 42.6 (Whiteoak Canyon Parking Area) along Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park.

As you walk down the trail toward the site, check out the hemlock trees which are dying due to an insect called the Hemlock Woolly Adelgid. Some of these trees are 400 years old. The actual GPS site is a pretty cool rock outcropping that will definitely be worth the hike. To prove you were at the site, do one of the following; upload a picture with your log of the view from the site, or send me an email with a description of the site, or locate the initials "HLR" and send me an email with the number carved beneath the initials (You don't need to search very close to the "edge" for the initials, but still, BE VERY CAREFUL. Also, please remember that defacing the rocks spoils the experience for future visitors, and it is against the law, so..."Leave No Trace.")
