TNT : Donjons & Mountains Multi-cache
Cachemier: Even legends die some day....
It has been nice ! Almost 9 years active, more than 300 founds, 126 favorite points, 129 watchers and hundreds of pictures.
We tried to find a new end location for this one as magical as was the first one but we didn'f find anything which came even close. The original hidding place is now a road construction site of no interest at all. So we can only archive this one.
I'd like to thank everybody who has ever accepted the challenge I think I can say that almost everyone enjoyed it according to the logs.
Maybe some day we will create TNT : The Return !
Bye
Stef (aka Cachemier)

Description changed on 01/01/2010 !!!
To find and log this one you'll have to gather some codes that will
be "offered" in each of the 3 stages of this multicache.
SPECIAL NOTES:
The whole hunt can probably be completed in 1 day but you'll have
to stand up early. If you are afraid or unsure of: heights, depths,
darkness, small spaces, various wildlife like spiders, snakes,
birds, bats, getting dirty, wet, cold, scratched by briers, bruised,
tired, hungry and thirsty —then you should seriously
reconsider going on this Geocache hunt. One or more of the above
elements WILL happen to you on this hunt. However, if you like
adventurous hikes and you thrive for the challenge and don’t
mind a bit of discomfort then this is the Belgian Geocache hunt for
you!If you do decide to take on this challenge, your experience
will be one you will remember! GOOD LUCK!! Note: Due to the high
level of risk involved, you should go for the hunt with a least one
partner and this cache is not recommended for children.
ITEMS NEEDED:
.You will need a vehicle (2WD is fine, 4WD is better!) since there
is a distance of about 100 km between start en finish.
·Good detailed road map of area or maps on GPS.
·At least two good flashlights
with extra batteries (hands-free headlights are best).
·Climbing harness (you can do without) with a short length (5m) of
GOOD safety rope and at least one carabineer. (if you are in good
shape,or experienced climber and not afraid of heights you may not
need this item—but we can recommend it for safety.)
.Sturdy long pants (jeans)
·Old, warm clothes and shoes/boots that you don’t mind
getting dirty/wet/torn.
·Notepad and pen, and a camera.
·Water and snacks.
And now : On With The Hunt!
The first stage of this cache is absolutely the most challenging
and most difficult part of this hunt. If you're able to complete
this first stage you won't have any problem with the other stages.
Go to the coordinates given above and you will be standing on top
of a "building". Try to find an entrance to this "building" and
look for a whole which you can descent thanks to a (safe) ladder.
Look out ! After the first ladder there's a second one ! Once your
down the ladders go to the right and follow the blue arrow.
Continue following ignoring all the side entrances until your way
is blocked by a wall from about 3 meters high. At least someone of
your team have to get upon that wall because just behind that wall
there you will see an iron gate.
This gate consists of a metallic grid soldered on more robust
vertical bars. On the top of the gate you can distinctly count the
number of those vertical bars. That number of bars will give you
the code (do not count the hinge).
If number of rails is 2 : Code = A
If number of rails is 3 : Code = B
If number of rails is 4 : Code = C
If number of rails is 5 : Code = D
Write down this code : it is important! Once you have the code you
just have to get out of here.
You have 3 possibilities :
1 : go back to the ladders and get up. That one is the only certain
way to get out again!
2 : go back to the point were the ladder begins and follow the
tunnel in the other direction until you reach a cliff. If the gate
is open (it ain't always!) you can get down if you have a rope
(from at least 50 meters) and a climbing harness and know how to do
a "rappel" or you can get up the cliff (not without risk but
climbing gear isn't necessary)
3 : after the wall you can continue following the tunnel until it
ends : about 20 meters before the end take a steep stair and start
seeking for an exit. But even when you're in open air it is still
possible that you can't really get out ! This third option is
certainly the most adventurous but also the most dangerous so be
very carefull! Anyway you could always try this third option and go
back when you want (Memorise your track because your GPS device
will be totally useless here!) Once you're out you are ready for
stage 2 !
Go to N 50°14,402’ E 004°55,289’ (it seems easy to
reach but watch out ! It ain’t !) You will find here a weird
building witch I like to call the “tower of
Charlemange”. This tower has a door and some
“windows”. Count the number of windows and you have the
second code!
If number of windows is 5 : Code = A
If number of windows is 6 : Code = B
If number of windows is 7 : Code = C
If number of windows is 8 : Code = D
After completing stage 2 we take a little trip to France !
"Moria" will reveal the code you need !!
With the 3 codes you have so far go to N 50°25,976' E
004°33,551'
The coordinates will bring you to the edge of a "crater lake" and
"at the height" of the final cache. The letter code you didn't find
will reveal the cache
If this letter is A go to : N 50°26,381’ E
004°34,260’
If this letter is B go to : N 50°25,716’ E
004°33,756’
If this letter is C go to : N 50°25,722’ E
004°33,868’
If this letter is D go to : N 50°25,508’ E
004°34,936’
Once on the good coordinates look for the highest tree downhill at
about 50 meters! Be careful !
We hope you enjoy it !!Have fun!
NOTE: IF YOU TAKE PICS, PLEASE DO NOT POST "SPOILER PICTURES"!!!
We want this to be challenging to ALL hunters!!! Also do not
mention the codes in your logs. Thanks !
