Cache is located in the scenic Waterberg Biosphere
The Waterberg Biosphere Reserve received its international status in March 2001 and now forms part of the World network of biosphere reserves, registered with UNESCO. The Waterberg Biosphere reserve is the first "savannah" biosphere reserve in southern Africa. Its unique bio-diversity features and cultural aspects make this area a special place to visit. The area is 2.5 hour drive from Johannesburg, malaria-free, and teeming with wildlife.
This cache is located in the Waterberg Game Park which is an ideal base from which to explore the riches of the Waterberg. If you only wish to visit for the day, you can access the park from the adjacent Restaurant, currently named 'Explorers Restaurant' (18/06/2005), which allows day visitors, walk past the tennis court and through the pedestrian gate to the upper dam where all the trails start from.
The cache is in a 2.5l container covered with a hessian bag. It has been placed on the Klipspringer Trail, also known as the "Treetrail". The trail follows a circular route of 3.5km, and will take a leisurely 2 hours to complete. The indigenous trees along the trail are well marked. The initial part of the trail is quite steep, and ropes have been placed to assist in the ascent. This is a very short section and was successfully completed by +70yr gran. If however you do not feel up to this, you can access the cache site by walking the trail in reverse and returning the same way. The route is well marked, so do not deviate onto paths which are not marked by the arrows.
The area has much game, and while placing the cache we spotted Giraffe, Wildebeest, Rooi Hartebeest, Warthog, Baboon, Impala, and many birds. The area has Leopard and Caracal. While game tends to keep its distance, it is preferable not to walk alone, especially smaller children. Carry a stick as this is snake country, and you wouldn't want to inspect holes with your hands before ensuring there are no nasty residents guarding the cache. The cache is located just south of the East Lookout Point. It has been placed under a large boulder and concealed with two stones. No climbing is required.
Care should be taken with children as the cache is placed close to a ledge.
Inspect the area carefully and move the stones aside with a stick to ensure there are no nasties.
Sit back, have a drink, and enjoy the view.

Directions:
Directions to Waterberg Game Park from Vaalwater.
From Vaalwater, follow the Melkrivier road for approximately 35km. Turn right to follow the Sondagsloop road, it is signposted. Follow the dirt road for approximately 12 km. Turn right at the T-Junction. The entrance to Waterberg Game Park and Indabush Lodge is about 1 km on, on the right.
