Art Miller is a playwright, a salesman of words, and he get paid by the word for his work. To predict and manage his income, Art needs to keep an accurate count of the words he uses in any particular project.
Art noticed that his publisher is making word count errors with greater frequency, and, as a result, Art has become obsessed with the accuracy of this information.
To encourage his editor, Biff Loman, to pay more attention to the number of words in his submissions, Art has decided to hide the manuscript for his next book. He will give Biff only a coded message to help him find it. If Biff finds the manuscript, he can publish it. If he doesn’t, Art will be looking for a new publisher.
