Mulligan’s Flat was made a part of the Canberra Nature
Park in 1994 and since that time it has undergone a revegetation
program.
The area is a great spot for bird lovers, especially at the dam
and wetlands three kilometres south of here. You can download a map
and guide from the
(PDF - 391Kb) ACT government website.
The path to the cache is well defined and is 1.7 kilometres in
length. If you choose to travel off the path (in a straight line),
you can answer to your calf muscles later on.
The cache itself is sitting in an obvious location. Once you
have found the cache, made a swap and logged your find, go for a
wander and check out the great views.
The suburb that will extend to the border of Mulligan's Flat
will be named Forde. It is named after Francis Michael Forde
(1890-1983). He was a member of the Federal Parliament from 1922
until 1946, Prime Minister for seven days (after the death of John
Curtin in 1945), deputy Prime Minister (to John Curtin and Ben
Chifley) and High Commissioner to Canada (1946-1953).
