Geocache Description:

Everyone is invited!

The WSGA has reserved the Group Camp site at Kanasket-Palmer State Park in the Enumclaw/Ravensdale area for the weekend of July 9th thru the 11th, 2004.

We are still working out the details and activities and will post them when they are ready.

The camp includes restrooms and showers. Sorry only Tents are allowed in the Group Camp, No motorhomes, trailers or tent-trailers allowed. If you need to bring your RV (Motorhome/Trailer/Tent Trailer), you will need to make your own separate reservations for a camp spot.

Camping at the group camp will cost $10/person TOTAL for both nights, Kids (16 and under) are $5 each, but we will cap the cost at $30 per family.

This fee is simply to recover some of our costs in reserving the campground. If you are camping with us you will not need to pay the $5.00/day Washington State Park day use fee.

If you are just coming down for the day and will not be camping, you will need to pay the State Park day use fee, so as you can see you just as well stay the night!

The Camp includes two adirondack (Three Sided) Sleeping shelters, each sleeping 8 people. If you don't want to stay in a tent, we will be taking reservations on these 16 spots on a first come / first served basis.

Kanaskat-Palmer State Park is a 320-acre camping park on a small, low plateau in a natural forest setting. The park has two miles of shorelines on the Green River. Boat and raft launching is by hand only. River rafting and kayaking down the Green River Gorge is for expert-level enthusiasts only. Shoreline activities include nature appreciation, trout fishing and picnicking.

The area around Kanaskat-Palmer and the Green River Gorge is abundant with mining history. The area is still mined for coal, as it has been for many years. Nearby Flaming Geyser gets its methane flame from a coal seam.

This event is endorsed by the WSGA. If you are a geocacher in the state of Washington, please join the Washington State Geocaching Association. This is a great way to get the most out of geocaching in our region. Simply go to geocachingwa.org for details!
