How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Easy access for all, city "centre" location so lots of parking around.

This cache will be archived on the 23rd April 2014, its 10th anniversary. If you wish to claim it you will need to have done all of: visit the location, email the answer, wait for the acknowledgement and make your found it post before the 23rd April 2014.

This should prove a very straightforward virtual cache. If the following seems complicated don't worry - just go to the co-ordinates and it'll be obvious.

You should be stood on a bronze plaque about 50cm square.

Look around - in each corner of the much larger square of paving stones which the 50cm plaque is set at the centre of is a group of 4 smaller bronze plaques (so 16 in total). Walk round and look at each of the 4 sets of 4 smaller plaques and find the one set of 4 which has as one of the 4 small plaques an anchor.

How to claim your find:

1. DO NOT LOG YOUR FIND UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED A REPLY SAYING YOU HAVE SENT IN THE CORRECT ANSWER. Any found it log made by a user without your having received a reply to tell you the answer is correct will be deleted without warning.

2. To ensure you get the reply saying you've got the correct answer don't untick the box "I want to send my email address along with this message." Confirmation replies are sent by email reply to the from address of the incoming message, if you un-tick this box then our confirmation reply to you will go to noreply@geocaching.com so you'll never get the reply!

3. No claims by proxy. Each GC.com user ID wanting to post a "found it" must individually email the answer through. To be clear if A does the find with B then A and B must both email answers through, if only A emails saying "found it with B" then any logs posted by B will be deleted.

4. And finally ... email us with the answer to the following: In which corner (NE, SE, SW, NW) is the set of 4 small plaques, of which one is the small anchor? To work out which corner is which forget compass bearings or walking away from the cache with GPS taking bearings - just look at the street names!
