Geocache Description:

A nice little ghost town at the head of Titus Canyon. I hope you bagged our "Titus Canyon" cache before grabbing this one.

LeadField has a strange history. It was founded by a shady promoter, C.C. Julian in 1926. He used the town primarily to promote the sale of stock in his lead mine. California lawmen were already investigating Julian as he was starting the town. The town never flourished, and more money was made on stock sales than from any lead mined. As many as 300 people lived in Leadfield at it's peak. The mine proved to be a bust and the investors lost their shorts. A post office only lasted 8 months. Take a stroll through the old buildings and feel how life must have been in the old mining camp. To prove your visit please post a picture at the mine entrance with GPS..
