Lost Castle of Caestert
- Mini Multi -
The Romans are said to have built a 'castrum' (an army camp) on this plate between Maas and Jeker, near Roman transport routes and near the towns Tongeren and Maastricht.
From 'castrum' derived the name of the plate: Caestert. The camp changed into the Castle of Caestert.
This castle was finally destroyed in 1972 by a fire, only the farm of the castle is still there.
An original Captain Cook cache from 2004.
To find the cache, note the year (ABCD) given at the entrance of the farm area.
Take the year ABCD with A+B+C+D=21.
At N 50° 48.(307+ABC)' E 005° 41.(982-BCD)' you will find the cache next to a wooden pole.
By the way: Don't climb over the fence! it's to keep children away from the caves.
