Metro / RER Stop – Luxembourg.
Take the Jardin Du Luxembourg On Boulevard Saint-Michel exit (sortie). That will take you right to the gate for the park. I am fairly certain this park IS only open during daylight hours.
I have three separate Geocaches in this park. All Virtual. To get the history on the park, you will have to read all three cache pages. However, you DO NOT have to go to each location to get credit for the caches. They are separate finds. Each cache will have a little history and then the directions to get the credit for the cache at the bottom. They are all within a 3-5 minute walk from each other, with a wonderful view from the overall area. Keep in mind, the history I have here is pulled from an information sign within the park, and I have used the English translation, as I am not able to read French. So over look the wording some as I took it down and transferred it here verbatim.
Part 1
Until the 11th century, crops covered the site that is now the Luxembourg. Saint-Louis, King of France, allowed the Carthusians to take it over in the 13th century.
In the 17th century, Queen Marie de Medicis bought the residence from the Duke of Luxembourg, along with his garden bordering on the Carthusian Monastery in order go build a palace.
After the revolution, the garden was extended to the conservatory, but under the 2nd Empire they were reduced to 25 acres and took on the present form.
The Palace was begun in 1615 for Queen Marie de Medicis. Used as a princely residence until the revolution, it became a prison during the Terror.
In 1879 the Luxembourg was allocated to the Senet of the 3rd Republic. Since then it has remained the seat of the Parliamentary Chambers.
OK that is the first bit of history on the area.
Now, for the cache information.
At the given coordinates there is a statue, whose picture is shown below. To get the credit for the find, you need to tell me what the RED text is on the small sign to the left of the statue. Please send JUST as it appears in red, do not try to translate or I will not know what it is.
ANY and ALL find logs will be deleted if I have not received your email first to verify the find.
