Geocache Description:

NOTE: As with all of our caches there is NO BUSHWHACKING needed. Please respect the local terrain. Thank You.

The above coordinates will place you at the statue of Sacajawea located in Portland's Washington Park. At this statue you must find the year it was copyrighted and use that number in the following formula to get the final coordinates for this micro-cache which is a bison tube (bring your own pen).

Copyright date will be x.xxx

Today there are reportedly more statues of Sacajawea than of any other American woman. Many of them were erected early in the last century with the support of local women's clubs and suffragists like Susan B. Anthony. Several of these monuments — like the lovely one in Portland, Oregon's Washington Park in which Sacajawea resembles a winged victory — make her look older than she was during the expedition, and grander, not a teenager dragged along but a woman who led.

The final cache location affords you a fantastic view of the City of Portland and would be most rewarding if done after dark (but please respect park hours).

Final cache coordinates:
N45 33.192 - x.xxx
W122 43.987 - x.xxx

9/29/2013: Cache remains in original location but subtract 0.002 from latitude and subtract 0.004 from the longitude for more accurate coordinates. -longtrails

8/4/2015: This cache complies with the geocaching policies for Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) properties. Please respect park hours when caching. -longtrails
