Two bridges connect the island to mainland in Herttoniemi and Tammisalo. Buses 84-89 operate from Herttoniemi underground station to Laajasalo.
The place is partly suburban, but large areas are still open for outdoor activities such as geocaching.
Previously only one cache has been placed to Laajasalo: Stargher IV
Historical manor houses Degerö, Stansvik and Jollas are located on the island.
At starting point you'll find some written instructions, but after that it's a game of colours, numbers and your wits. You don't need a calculator, though.
Update in April 2020: Extensive construction of new apartment buildings has taken place in Laajasalo over the past 15 years and this geocache is coming to the end of its lifecycle. I was forced to relocate all points from stop number 3 onwards. Once you've figured out the coordinates for stop 3, you have to do the following correction N: +0,083 E: +0,007. From stop 3 onwards the game guides you all the way to the new final location. Hopefully this buys a few more months lifetime for 16 years old geocache.
Cache should be winter-proof, but heavy drifting of snow may play some tricks at starting point. Some digging will help.
Please hide all boxes very carefully
Don't sign any cache notes nor look for hints from those. They are there only for occasional geomuggles. The final cache contains a small blue logbook.
This is rather long walk, but I hope you'll enjoy it.
