Geocache Description:

Getting to this cache requires a nice walk along a great beach on Guemes Island. It's easy, but takes about 30 min to get there. Expect great views of islands and wildlife.

Coordinates above are not final cache location, they are the parking area where you should start the cache from. This is a letterbox hybrid, and requires using the below word clues to find the cache.

This cache is located on the north end of Guemes Island. It will require bringing a car across the ferry, unless you want to bike. It's about 4 miles to the parking area at N. 48 34.944, W. 122 38.228. If you are not familiar with the area and the surrounding islands, you may need to get a map. (USGS Cypress Island Quadrangle)

From the location at the coordinates above, begin walking to the North on the beach. Continue around Clark’s Point for approximately 7500 feet. Find the spot where you can get the following cross bearings: (These are true bearings using a 21° declination.)

A 312.5° bearing from the East end of the eastern most Cone Island.

A 222.0° bearing to the Cypress Island Light on Cypress Head.

Look at attached clue photo and determine the type of tree the photo is of. Find a grove of these trees. Cache is no more than 15 feet above mean tide line.

You will need to be aware of the tides. I've walked it at a 7.7, with the tide going out, and had to do a bit of climbing over logs and slides. On the lower tides, you won't have to worry about that at all. It's even possible to bike, if you like biking on the beach.

Often good cache in-trash out opportunities.

The theme of this cache is "My Favorite Things." I've loaded it up with some of my favorite things. Bring along one of your favorite things to exchange. Try to keep the trade items high-quality please. :) Also there is a small photo album bring along a photo of yourself or a favorite thing to add to it.

Enjoy your walk! It's my favorite on the island!
