Geocache Description:

Located in a new military memorial park in the heart of Melbourne. The park is for all branches of the military, but since my father was a Marine, I have chosen to highlight that branch on this page.

I was going to just place a micro cache with no strings attached at this park, but so much work has gone into developing this (and is ongoing at the time of placement) that I thought you should actually take time to reflect on the memorial aspect of the park.

The final cache is a cammoed plastic container with a logbook, a USA pin and a couple of "coin" erasers.

You will need to find the answers to the following to fill in the rest of these coordinates:

N 28 05.ABC W 080.36.DEF

Find the memorial to the Merchant Marines and get the year they were founded. Substitute the 3rd number of the year in for "E".

Go to the monument that has the names of all of the local residents who were killed in war - the monument has the motto "LEST WE FORGET" at the top. Count the number of people who are memorialized on this plaque. Take the last number and insert it for "C".

Locate the memorial for the Air Force. In the insignia count how many lightning bolts are radiating out from the crest. Take this number and replace "D" with it.

Go to the memorial for the Coast Guard and take the last number of the year they were founded and substitute it for "A".

Finally, make your way to the memorial for WWI, find the number of people wounded in action, and take the second and fourth digits of that number and replace "B" and "F" with them, respectively.

This will take you to the micro. There is a museum located adjacent to this park that is dedicated to the military, as well. The park is open from sunup to sundown.
