Once again, Tis the Season, as they say, so this will be another fine opportunity to celebrate Christmas/Hanukkah/Yule/Solstice/Kwanzaa/the holiday of your choice.
The location of the gathering is the large meeting room at the Missoula Public Library. We'll start at 6:30 pm and run until closing time at the library, which is 9:00. Bring holiday snacks to share, if you'd like. I'm afraid that we don't have room this year for everyone's potential celebrations and rituals, however. But then the goat jumping/fire sacrificing area went unused last year...
For part of the evening's entertainment, those interested can join in playing a gift game we've found is enjoyed by many. Bring a half dozen to a dozen small gifts (ones appropriate as cache trade items would be perfect), wrapped as beautifully as you like. All of the items are placed in the center of the circle of players, who take turns rolling dice. Depending on the results, the player will take zero, one, or two gifts from the pile. When all have been taken, but not yet unwrapped, the real fun begins; for a set (but secret) amount of time, the players continue to roll and continue to select presents, but this time they take them from each other. When the timer goes off, the players all unwrap the gifts, for the first time everyone can see just what they have been stealing back and forth from one another.
If you plan to attend, please post a note to this page with how many people you are bringing, and maybe a tantalizing hint of what dish you're bringing. It is not necessary that you be a member of MOOG to attend (but why aren't you a member?)
