This cache is located 0.2 miles down a trail that begins at Deals Gap on the TN/NC state line. Minimal parking can be found underneath the TN welcome sign. This cache is at the top of a dangerous section of US 129 known as the Dragon. This remote stretch of road forms the western edge of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and boasts 318 curves in 11 miles (though I've never successfully counted them all.)
For those wishing to find my nearby cache Tail of the Dragon, located at the opposite end of this streach of road, the coordinates can be found on the first page of the logbook in this cache. This is to allow an alternate way to obtain the coords for this cache if you are traveling through the area or are otherwise unable to get ahold of one of my Geocaching CDs.
Please drive carefully, especially on the weekends when this road can be full of motorcyclists from one end to the other. If you look carefully, you can find a number of crosses and other memorials that serve as a reminder of how dangerous this road can be. Don't let this scare you away, though; I have driven this road dozens of times without trouble.
