Geocache Description:

This letterbox hybrid cache is hidden near Colyer Lake, east of Boalsburg.

There are many different ways to seek this cache (including by boat!), but our favorite way to get there is from the public access on Lingle Road. Suggested parking: N40 46.692, W77 41.066. Follow the path around the lake from there. We like this walk because there are a couple of fun water hazards, a really great climbing tree, and some beautiful flora.

Colyer Lake is a great birding spot for waterfowl, especially in the spring and fall. You may see buffleheads, ruddy ducks, black scoters, white-winged scoters, double-crested cormorants, pied-billed grebes, tundra swans, mute swans, canada geese, mallards, wood ducks, and more, depending on when you go and how good your eyes are! Let us know what you see in your logs.

Please be careful near the cache site. We advise you not to seek this cache in the dark or in heavy snow, lest you slide into the drink! Little cachers should be heavily supervised.

Diggles carved the surf scoter stamp. We're looking forward to seeing your stamps and stickers out there soon! We left a compass charm for FTF. Enjoy!

NOTE: I adopted this cache from Diggles & Liggles on 17 JUN 04, as part of their preparations to move from the area.
