Troppberg Multi-cache

PlanetEarth: Der Cachebaum ist umgefallen, die Box lag zwar noch im hohlen Stamm, war aber der Witterung ausgesetzt. Daher war der Inhalt [xx(][xx(][xx(]. Wir haben einen TB und einen Geokrety gerettet sowie 2 Murmeln. Den Rest mussten wir als Sondermüll entsorgen [;)].

Nachdem am Troppberg ein Tradi genau über die Koordinaten dieses Multi gelegt wurde und dieser im Text auch noch spoilert macht eine neue Box keinen Sinn mehr. Ich archiviere daher meinen Cache aus 2003, einen der ältesten Caches des Bezirks ...

Geocache Description:

The Cache is located at the Troppberg west of Vienna. The area is a typical part of the sandstone-flysch Wienerwald.

You can reach the cache area by public transport. Take the train from Westbahnhof till "Untertullnerbach". For the length of a roundtrip you will need a whole day. Those coming by car can park at a restaurant called "Gasthof Rieger". From here it is shorter and you will need an afternoon. I recommend the longer route (counter clockwise) when the wheather is fine.

The trail is most of it`s length a hiking path. Only for the very last meters before the cache you have to leave the way. No special equipment is needed, only a map is recommended. Length: 5.5 km (minimum), Difference in height: 100 m (minimum).

NB: The above difficulty and terrain rating was done with the program from geocaching.com. To be internationally comparable I´m using this result. (See the discussion in the forum also.) My personal opinion is a rating of 1.5 stars for difficulty and 2 stars for terrain.

Stage 1: Up to the sky
N1 =  48° x1´ where x1 = 13.431
E1 = 016° y1´ where y1 = 6.598
When it is not foggy it´s a good idea to have a look-out there. At the given coordinates there are many objects. Look for a building which is built of stone. At eye-level you will find a stone tablet or an engraved stone bearing an inscription. (Ignore normal graffities). The second line of this tablet contains a date. Call this 4-digit year A.

Stage 2: The Cache
N2 =  48° x2´ where x2 = x1 - ((A / 10 - 36) / 1000)
E2 = 016° y2´ where y2 = y1 - ((A / 2 - 127) / 1000)
