Geocache Description:

This is a 6 stage multi-cache located in Thorne Head Preserve. Parking lot is located at 43° 56.591 and 069° 49.112 at the north end of High St. Bath, Maine. The preserve is open from dawn to dusk and very popular with hikers and dog walkers. Bring your camera with you as there are nice views of the Kennebec River and islands as well as rock formations, birds and wildlife.

The final cache is a large tupperware (2 1/2 gl) container with a logbook and a camera to record your visit. As well as a good assortment of trading items.

Thorne Head is a peninsular with a central trail from the gate. There are no real marked trails, but the paths are easy to follow. So I have placed 6 pint size containers along the paths to give you a tour of the preserve. None are located more than 20 ft from the paths. Each container has a card with the co-ordinates to the next, a pencil and small pad of paper to write info on. Be prepared for a fairly long (1.9) mi. hike but not much climbing involved,
although the path does traverse one steep area, so be careful there. The challenge is finding the containers but the clues should help. Be sure you have good batteries in your GPSr as there is heavy tree cover in some places. It is easy to bushwhack nearly anywhere in the preserve but shouldn't be necessary. There are many more paths to explore here if you have time, I often spend hours enjoying the area. I only live a mile away so this is nearly in my back yard.
