This cache has been archived.

tomslusher: I have been here several times in the past few months trying to locate my cache, but I have to give up. Either the last finder hide it too well or it is gone.

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted!!! Thanks to all for visiting,

Geocache Description:

Three Hour Tour

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip, That started in this tropic port, aboard this tiny ship. The mate was a mighty sailin' man, the Skipper brave and sure. Five passengers set sail that day for a three hour tour. A three hour tour.

This cache is on an island on Lake Jefferson, roughly smack in-between Elysian and Cleveland, MN.  Plan on about 3 hours to get to the cache, find it and return to the public access.  It really is on an island, contrary to what the mapping software and web sites tell you.  You don't have to worry about flooding either, the island is a good 20 feet out of the water.   Don't expect to ride into here on the S.S. Minnow though.  It gets pretty shallow within about 100 yards from the island.  If you are one to listen to advice, take this;  Either canoe, kayak or come in the winter as the water gets pretty shallow.  If you come in a regular boat, please lift the motor when you get within a couple hundred yards of the island.

The weather started getting rough, the tiny ship was tossed. If not for the courage of the fearless crew, the Minnow would be lost. The Minnow would be lost. The ship set ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle, with Gilligan, the Skipper too, the Millionaire and his wife, the movie star, the Professor and Mary Ann, here on Gilligan's Isle.

There is a public access at N44°16.650' W93°44.616'.  The cache is roughly 2 miles by water from that point.  The best area to come ashore is the west side of the island.

The cache is in a green ammo can.  Also in the can you will find a bunch of old grocery bags to pick up trash with on the way out if you so choose.  I don't think many of them will get used as I have yet to find any evidence of humans here.  It is pretty buggy though.  Use bug dope!!
