Geocache Description:

The Bowden Hill cache is on another tall hill in the Chippenham area allowing splendid views towards Melksham in the South West. Unless you fancy a hike uphill for a mile and a half from Lacock, it is recommended to park a bit more local.

G:UK cache rating

Bowden Hill contains a few houses, two garden nurseries and the private 'Spye Park' estate as well as the tiny church of St Annes. This church, despite its older appearance, was built in the late Victorian period by the, then prime minister Gladstone. It is still used monthly by both the local parish and also the neighbouring parish of Lacock.

The views, on a clear day, can reach 20 miles. There is a private(?) crypt on the opposite side of the road to the chuch which has eluded all attempts so far to gain any further details. Local eateries a bit further down the hill include 'The Rising Sun' (400 yds), 'The Bell' (1mi - but with a 'Good Food Guide' rating) and the village of Lacock not too much further on.)

Suggested parking is at N51 24.565 W02 05.353

The cache is hidden in an ammo box and its original contents include:

Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (VHS, PAL)
Daily Mail 20 Top Hits CD
Duck Keyring
Very 'Feminist view of God' coaster
Gold glitter candle
