Geocache Description:

Elevation: 1139 m, some 40 km North of Pretoria, is a ring of hills a kilometre in diameter and 100 meters high. These hills were twice as high when they were formed some 200 00 years ago by a massive kinetic type explosion.

Here there is a wealth of historical, astrological, geological and natural interest available. The Universities are also interested in this site, particularly for the Geosciences.

This site has a museum (S 25 25.248 E 28 04.826), a picnic area and some hiking trails. It’s surrounded by a nature reserve with many indigenous trees and an abundance of birds.

It would be a good idea to study the map carefully before driving to this Cache; you don’t want to end up in a bad area.

Wear some soft comfortable shoes since there is an easy hiking trail to the cache. Park your car, pay a small fee at the reception, and don’t leave without first visiting the museum.

Sunday 12h54, Philip, Jill X2 and Jonathan took about a half an hours walk (BRG 28 deg, 1.32Km) along the hiking trail using the hiking trail map (obtainable at the reception) in order to place this Cache. Some of the trees have been marked so take your tree and bird books along. A set of binoculars will help to see the view across the plains of the Springbok flats just past the cache.

Since finding this cache would make a fun family outing, we filled the cache with quite a few goodies. There are some foreign coins and a paperweight ruler that we swapped at the previous cache we visited. There is also a swing-lovers executive toy, a pack of famous automobile poker cards, an eraser, a Snake and Ladder board game and a little wooden Thai elephant that came all the way from Thailand. So, there is bound to be something for Mom, Dad and the kids.

The Cache is in a 2 litre Ice Cream tub wrapped in a black bag. It's tucked in a crevice and covered with rocks just next to the base of a tree.
