4.23. Unarchiving a Geocache

The archiving of a geocache is intended to be a permanent status. That is why only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ staff have the capability to unarchive it. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if it meets the current Geocache Listing Guidelines.

If a geocache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance it will not be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

The Seventh cache in the "GREAT SOUTHERN LAND" Series, takes you to one of the most remote city harbours in the world.

Darwin Harbour is scenically beautiful. With it's lovely stretches of warm inviting aquamarine coloured water you could be forgiven for wanting to dive in at any of the many beaches that line the cities foreshores. BE WARNED. The waters may look innocent enough but under the surface lie many good reasons to resist this temptation.

The deadly Box Jellyfish and the man eating Salties (Saltwater Crocodiles) frequent these waters all year round. The cities daytime temperature rarely falls below 32 degrees celsius, but you will quickly notice that all the beaches are completely devoid of swimmers, so if this phenomenon isn't proof enough then one of the many posted signs warning of the dangers should convince you to look but not swim.

Added to this of course is the Cyclone Threat. Darwin remains on constant Cyclone Watch and has been since Cyclone Tracy completely destroyed the city almosy thirty years ago. The general feeling is that a cyclone of similar magnitude is way overdue for the area. How will Darwin fare next time? Who Knows.

You can find this cache 'almost' at the waters edge. The tide differences here are big so be prepared because you may have to approach from different ways at different times of the day.

For your further safety on land , we strongly advise that you wear good boots and use gloves when poking around for the cache. Good Luck. SNAFUADV care for this cache.
