Wonderful hike to a couple of gorgeous alpine lakes, Snow and Gem Lakes. The cache is hid on a peaklet overlooking Gem Lake. Should be an easy find. When you get to Gem Lake, follow the trail around the lake to the right up towards a ridge. Be on the alert for a path on the lake side of the main trail at N47 28.639 W121 28.118. This will take you up the low ridge along the lake, past a campsite, to the cache area.
The last 200 feet to the cache is pure agony...100 feet elevation gain. Short and sweet though. The views are beyond description! No need to go off the path. The cache is hidden at the summit of the peaklet. Your geonose should easily spot the hiding location. Oh, the cache is a lock-snap tupperware container and there is an envelope for the First Finder.
You will be hiking moderate grade trails for the most part...just that last bit is a grind. RT is probably about 12 miles or so. I'm giving it 4.5 stars for the longish hike involved and the really steep part. Otherwise, it's not that bad.
