Yes, I realize that Kansas City is nowhere near here. And yes, I realize that the A's baseball team plays in Oakland. But the A's played in a couple of other cities before moving to Oakland. The A's have certainly been successful in most of the 40+ years in Oakland, and they won several championships in the 50+ years that they played in Philadelphia. But in between, they played 13 years in Kansas City, and even though they were perennial losers then, they were my favorite team. Lovable losers. This cache is a tribute to that long-gone team.
We placed this cache at the northern end of Garin Park, because we felt that this nice part of the park was being neglected as a geocaching area. There are several ways to get there, but you should be aware that there is no parking available at the Calhoun Entrance. The Zeile Creek Entrance provides a nice hike; it's a little over a mile and takes about 30 minutes, but it's probably muddy in the winter time. It's a longer hike from the Garin Road entrance, but it's doable.
There is no need to bushwhack going over the hill. Use the secondary trail from the Vista Peak Trail on the west side of the hill.
The container is a small ammo box. It was reloaded with several toys and trinkets on 9/9/2011.
