De Rothenbach oftewel Rode Beek ontspringt nabij het Duitse dorp Dahlheim en mondt in de rivier de Roer nabij het Nederlandse plaatsje Vlodrop. Zij vormt over een lengte van ongeveer 8 km. De grens tussen zowel de twee landen alsook twee natuurgebieden namelijk; het Nationaal park De Meinweg en het Duitse park Schwalm Nette. In vroegere tijden voedde de Rothenbach een drietal watermolens. Tegenwoordig, is alleen de Gitstappermolen nog in gebruik. Zij werd in 1988 gerestaureerd, en er word nu weer ambachtelijk gemalen. Hier bevind zich het startpunt van de Rothenbach cache die u aan weerszijden van de grens door dit mooie gebied voert. De lengte van de tocht is 16 KM! Op de aangegeven waypoint's vind u telkens een metalen plaatje met de coördinaten van het volgende WP. Op sommige plaatjes staat ook een letter met daarachter een cijfer. Deze cijfers vormen uiteindelijk het cache-coördinaat. WAARSCHUWING:Het is verboden dit gebied te betreden na zonsondergang! The Rothenbach or Rode Beek is a brook wich well's up near the German village Dahlheim and mouth's in the river Roer near the Dutch village Vlodrop. For a length of 8 KM. This brook is the borderline between these two countries as well as two beautifull area's known as National park; De Meinweg and on the German side the Schwalm Nette park.
