Geocache Description:

A traditional cache on the Coopers Hill Slopes which overlook Runnymede.

It won't take long to realise that The Big Charter in question is The Magna Carta. This cache is set near to where the Magna Carta was signed in 1215. More information can be found here. As well as being a regular cache it is in close proximity to the M25 if you fancy a break whilst crawling through the traffic. The area also makes a great place to come with the family for a picnic. In addition to the cache you have the banks of the Thames, plenty of space for the kids to tire themselves out running round, and a number of monuments. And that's just within walking distance. A short drive away is Thorpe Park, Legoland, and Windsor.

There are three places you can park. Number 1, and the nearest to the M25 is the car park at the Leisure grounds and river. N51 26.445 W00 33.038. This is pay and display and is 0.58 miles from the cache as the crow flies. Number 2, and just a little further down the road at N51 26.849 W00 33.966 is The National Trust car park, and although you have to pay, it is the best place to investigate all the memorials around the area as well as again enjoying the river. This is 0.62 miles from the cache drawing a straight line. Third parking is at N51 26.227 W00 34.111. This is closest to the cache (0.23 miles, although the best part of half a mile by the time you reach the cache), and The Air Forces Memorial. It is also free. If you climb to the roof of the A.F. Memorial you get great views over Middlesex, Berkshire, the Thames, and with a set of binoculars, a good view of Heathrow. For those who like visiting military graves and memorials this is well worth the visit.

The first two car parks mean you ascend to the cache and descend afterwards, the third is the opposite.

The cache itself is a 1.5 litre plastic box and contains the following at the time of placing;
The Log Book and Pens. A bag of marbles. The Book of I Ching. (Chinese fortune telling) A magnetic mobile phone holder. A bag of 5 Lego Bionicles. (Ask your kids!).

And visiting at the beginning is Lil' Oscar who is taking part in The UK TB Race. This is the third of his counties to visit.

Occasionally, if you keep a look out and move quietly, you will come across the odd deer or two behind the nearby wire fences.

Hope you enjoy it.
