Geocache Description:

This is a virtual cache, which is easily reached by car, with an easy walk from the parking lot. It is a War Memorial, and a National Park; Please pay your respects accordingly. DO NOT DEVIATE FROM THE MARKED PATHS, DUE TO UXOs.

On the 9th of April, 1917, a great event occurred here. Admire the view to the south from the top of this feature, and the question arises: how did they do it? My grandfather walked across this ground in 1917, and after having visited it twice, I am amazed at the outcome of the event. To find out more, tour the grounds for some excellent history. Prior to logging this cache, contact us with an e-mail, with the following information:
1] Exactly what happened at this location?
2] What is carved into the base of the memorial? This cache may only be logged once per geocacher; please, no spoiler photos.
Please do not email any links as your answers.
