Hidden for the Summer Picnic held here on 06/21/03. Its hidden off one of the many trails in this forest.
We all know about Myths, Folklore and Urban Legends but have you heard such a thing as this?? Back in the early 1800's there was a town here called Pineville, located within the Byrne State Forest. Where?? Know one really knows, because there have been no traces of a town found ever. No foundations, houses, barns or even stores. The town was only here for a short time, when the unthinkable happened. Now if you have ever seen the movie "Children of the Corn", then you know what happened. If you havent ask someone who might know or look it up on the Internet. The town was booming..(for back then) it had 10 houses and a general store, saloon and they were just about to build a postoffice, when a new family moved into the town. The family consisted of a mom, dad and 1 odd child. Whom never spoke nor looked you in the eye. One day while the neighborhood children were out playing in the near by stream they were confronted by this odd child and taken over by him. He brainwashed them and made them his own little cult. Thats when people realised all the children acting weird, they blamed it on the new kid and the family was shunned out of Pineville. The odd child left his impression on the children and before they knew it, the townsfolk adults were disappearing left and right, till there were none left. Now.. the odd child and his family were not affected and he is still out there to this day, as the legend says that he never ages. He is adopted by many familys after they disappear, so people really dont notice. Be on the look out for quiet children who dont look you in the eyes, and if they do look at you.. your next!!! The last place in here for a disappearance was back in the early 1980's so lets see if you can surive here in this area where there was a town.
