Everyday all over the world police officers put their lives on the
line to make our city and state a safer place. This memorial
commemorates Houston Police Officers who have made the ultimate
sacrifice while serving in the line of duty. May God bless their
souls. The Houston Police Department maintains a 24-hour vigil at
this site - both to honor the fallen and for security. The honor of
this vigil is peformed by a officer of the department on a rotation
basis. All officers are asked to performed this honor for 4 hours
at least once a year or so. To confirm your find, I need to know

answer for your cache “The MEN in Blueâ€: The Memorial is
dedicated to those officers who lost their lives in the line of
duty. The Memorial was conceived and paid for by citizens of the
City of Houston. The Memorial is manned 24 hours a day by volunteer
police officers. There is a reflecting pool surrounded by four
inscribed slabs of polished Texas pink granite located at the
sculptures apex (of the central pyramid). The inscriptions bear the
names of over eighty officers that died in the line of duty. A
smaller version of the reflection pool is near the parking lot, for
those visitors who are unable to climb to the apex.
