(South Korea's Oldest Cache)
If you're US military, show the gate guard your ID and you'll get in for free. There's plenty of parking and buses run to the site. Namhanseong is a hill-top fortress that was originally built around 50 BC and remodeled in 1624. It was designed to protect the city of Seoul from invaders and a lot of the original wall is still visible throughout the park. Temples and gates are abundant in the park and well worth some picture-taking. For those of us who don't understand Hangul, the signs are translated into English.
Inside the fortress walls, are lots of restaurants, and a few small gift shops. I ate at one located on a creek and paid 6,000 won ($5) for a more than generous meal.
The cache is more or less a "starter cache." With the Garmin GPS 1 had an EPE of 25 feet when placing it. It's about 2" x 4" x 8" Tupperware dish with a RED lid. It's slightly buried under some Rocks and dead leaves, but is recognizable. I did put the required notepad and pen in it. Also inside are a few military items from the US Army. If you do go looking for the cache, I ask that you would add an item to it. There's no travel bug in it yet..... we'll see how long it takes for someone to go find it then we may but some desired goodies on our next visit if there's some in it by then.
